"How Great Thou Art" started its life as a Swedish poem written by Carl Boberg (1859–1940) in Mönsterås, Sweden. It was translated into German and then into Russian. English missionary Stuart K Hine translated the Russian lyrics into English and added two original verses of his own.
It's such a great combination of lyrics and melody that always provokes praise in a congregation.
lyrics
Verse 1:
O Lord my God when I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the works Thy hands have made.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Chorus:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Verse 2:
When through the woods and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.
Verse 3:
And when I think that God His son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in.
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Verse 4:
When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation,
And takes me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then shall I bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God how great Thou art.

I suppose I am slightly biased as it is my very talented and lovely Son Andy Green and wonderful friend Dave Woodman who have made this fabulous album together.
However, despite this I love the unique sound of the dulcimer and the beautiful music so divinely put together creating an album that I will play often to soothe and thrill me when I need it most. Thank you . Linda Bond
