about

This song emerged on a walk whilst praying for a friend.

It's an invitation to rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father, for no particular reason, but just to be with him.

Here’s a review from Lins Honeyman;

David Woodman
Rest Child

Prolific Manchester-based singer/songwriter David Woodman’s latest ad hoc release finds him move from away from his usual blues, country and (most recently) hymnal leanings by entering into meditational territory with this contemplative offering that seeks to soothe the weary believer.

On this occasion, Woodman speaks from God’s point of view with nothing much more than a floating synth wash and some EBow guitar and this uncluttered approach, along with the man’s intimate vocals, allows the message of the peace that only Jesus can offer to reach deep into the listener’s soul.

A timely song given the worry and fear that a lot of people will be experiencing due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.

lyrics

Verse 1:
Rest child,
Don’t say a word now;
Just feel my heart
Safe in my arms.
Don’t fret child,
I’ll never let go.
Don’t rush away,
I’ve all the time in the world.

Chorus:
Just rest in my love,
Come breathe in my peace
And know deep in your soul,
I’m your Father.

Verse 2:
Be still, child,
You’re always welcome;
Just hear my voice
Gently sing over you.
