Paul's letter to the Colossian church starts with a fantastic anthem of praise to Jesus. Somebody needs to set it to a brilliant tune, but 'til then this is my stab at it.
The piano part on here is played (very tentatively) by me, with the help of lots of MIDI editing.
lyrics
Jesus, you’re the image of the God invisible.
Lord, you are the firstborn over all the world.
For by you, and for you, all things were created -
everything in heaven and upon the Earth.
You are above all things;
You hold all things together.
We live to serve you, as our body’s head.
Jesus, you reigned supreme at the beginning,
and forever as the first-born from the dead.
For the fullness of the Godhead dwells within you.
Only you could reconcile all that was lost.
All the broken fragments of this fallen universe
are restored through your blood, shed upon the cross.
We, who were far from God can now receive forgiveness.
The evil we have done, cleansed by your blood.
Jesus, your death renews us, frees us, heals us,
makes us holy in the presence of our God,
makes us holy in the presence of our God.
