Words Of Life

from Desert Songs by David Woodman

/

about

This is the first release from my Desert Songs album, which will be released a track at a time over the course of each month of 2020.

When you read the Psalms in the Bible, they seem to cover a far wider and deeper subject matter than our modern worship services tend to feature. There are many times where the writer is declaring how hard life is, how desperate their situation, but ending on a note of praise, trust and hope - Psalm 31 for example.

lyrics

Verse 1:
In the darkest of my sorrows;
In the longest sleepless night,
When my plans are left in ruins
With no trace of hope in sight;
If the pain seems never-ending
And I'm left here all alone;
Still I will praise You.
Where else could I go?

Chorus:
You have the words of life, Lord;
You give me strength to stand.
You know me in my weakness
And hold me safe in your hands.
You are the Word of Life, Lord;
Help me to trust your ways.
Quiet my anxious heart and
Walk with me all my days.

Verse 2:
When I'm tired and uncertain
and the walls are closing in;
When I'm faced up to my failures
and I need to start again.
If there is no easy answer
And the future is unknown;
Still I will praise You.
Where else could I go?
