In 1707, English writer Isaac Watts published When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. It's such an incredible lyric.
Most arrangements take their cues from the first verse, reflecting on the overwhelming sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. I chose to think about the last verse - love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all!
lyrics
Verse 1:
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Verse 2:
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
Verse 3:
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Verse 4:
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were an offering far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
Coda:
You can have it all,
All,
Have it all,
All!

I suppose I am slightly biased as it is my very talented and lovely Son Andy Green and wonderful friend Dave Woodman who have made this fabulous album together.
However, despite this I love the unique sound of the dulcimer and the beautiful music so divinely put together creating an album that I will play often to soothe and thrill me when I need it most. Thank you . Linda Bond
