Refuge

from Desert Songs by David Woodman

/

about

This song came from reading Isaiah 25, which describes a people declaring the praises of God in the face of storms and trials.

lyrics

Verse 1:
Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you.
In perfect faithfulness
You’ve done wonderful things,
The people will praise you,
Cities revere you.
You’re preparing a feast for all peoples.

Chorus:
You are a refuge for the poor;
A shelter from the storm.
You’re shade in the desert,
Light in the darkness,
Conquerer of death.
You will wipe our tears away
And cast out our disgrace.
We’ll say “This is the Lord,
We trust in him.”

Verse 2:
Lord, you are our God;
We will exalt you.
In perfect faithfulness
You’ve done wonderful things,
The people will praise you,
Cities revere you.
You’re preparing a feast for all peoples.

Bridge:
You are the Lord, we trust in you.
We will rejoice in your salvation.
Hope of the world, King of all kings
No other power shall stand (x2)
