Verse 1: In the darkest of my sorrows; In the longest sleepless night, When my plans are left in ruins With no trace of hope in sight; If the pain seems never-ending And I'm left here all alone; Still I will praise You. Where else could I go? Chorus: You have the words of life, Lord; You give me strength to stand. You know me in my weakness And hold me safe in your hands. You are the Word of Life, Lord; Help me to trust your ways. Quiet my anxious heart and Walk with me all my days. Verse 2: When I'm tired and uncertain and the walls are closing in; When I'm faced up to my failures and I need to start again. If there is no easy answer And the future is unknown; Still I will praise You. Where else could I go?

Hope Arise 03:41
Verse 1: Listen to my prayer, O God Hear my cry and answer me. I'm troubled by my anxious thoughts Overwhelmed by fear of what could be But I know that my Redeemer lives I know that you are faithful. Chorus: Hope arise, let hope arise; Fan the flame of faith in me. Split the dark with your heavenly light So I can glimpse eternity. Verse 2: Father, will you lift my head, Loving God, deliver me. I'm tired from this desperate fight, Longing for your hand to rescue me. I cast my cares on you, my Rock For you are my sustainer. Bridge: You promise beauty from these ashes, Diamonds in the dust, Treasure in the darkness, so I will dare to trust. There is hope here for the hopeless, Strength when I am weak. Father, in your mercy, give me eyes to see

Refuge 03:30
Verse 1: Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you. In perfect faithfulness You’ve done wonderful things, The people will praise you, Cities revere you. You’re preparing a feast for all peoples. Chorus: You are a refuge for the poor; A shelter from the storm. You’re shade in the desert, Light in the darkness, Conquerer of death. You will wipe our tears away And cast out our disgrace. We’ll say “This is the Lord, We trust in him.” Verse 2: Lord, you are our God; We will exalt you. In perfect faithfulness You’ve done wonderful things, The people will praise you, Cities revere you. You’re preparing a feast for all peoples. Bridge: You are the Lord, we trust in you. We will rejoice in your salvation. Hope of the world, King of all kings No other power shall stand (x2)

Have Mercy 03:14
Have mercy, Lord You are my redeemer. Forgive me, Lord Do not turn away. For You know the sin within my heart. There’s nothing I could hide. I turn to You, my Lord. Release me, Lord From the chains I cling to And free me from The guilt that bows my head. Put a new song in my heart, my God And I will sing to You. I turn to You, my Lord. Holy One, Hear my prayer. Holy Spirit, come As I draw near. Restore me, Lord. Heal the pain within me And wash me, Lord, For then I shall be clean. I will seek Your holy face, my God. Your Spirit guides my way. I turn to You, my Lord. © David Woodman 1997

Verse 1: I'm waiting for the dawn, Longing for this night to end. My dreams have turned to dust; Will I find my way again? I'm broken on this battleground, But still I choose to fight. How long before my rescue comes? Chorus: This I know - Father, You love me. You are good and You care for me. You're my song in the night, The strength of my life And my future's safe in Your hands. Verse 2: I'm looking for a ray of hope Not sure I'll see the sun. The darkness that surrounds Hides the distance that I've run. It feels like I've been standing still, But I still choose to stand. How long before my rescue comes? Bridge: You are faithful, never-changing; Slow to anger and rich in love. I'm surrounded by your mercies Strength will rise as I wait on You

Crushed 02:56

There is music in the madness Wonder in the chaos of life There's treasure in the darkness The last page of the story turns out right Better days are coming But not without a price When the tunnel feels too long Keep on heading for the light There are flowers in the desert Beauty through the pain of the birth In the night we may be weeping But joy comes in the morning I've learned Better days are coming But not without a fight When the tunnel feels too long Keep on heading for the light When I don't understand When I can't see the plan I choose to hope I choose to hope

Come to the river, Go ever deeper, Run to the river, The river of God Come to the fountain Of life-giving water Rest at the fountain The fountain of God Come thirsty soul, Know and be known. Drink your fill and be satisfied. Come to the ocean Of love and mercy. Swim in the ocean, The ocean of God Come weary soul, Come find home In warmth of the Father's arms All who are restless, All who are seeking. Swim in the ocean, Rest at the fountain, Run to the river, The river of God

Remembrance 03:50
11.
Verse 1: You know I'm weary, Lord; It's hard to lift my head, Harder to understand your plan or see the road ahead. But still I trust you Lord, Trust in your faithfulness. So I will wait for you And hold on to your promises. Pre-chorus: Though I walk in pain and tears and my strength is low Deep down inside my heart I know Chorus: You're with me in the waiting, Until my waiting ends. I choose to praise; I choose to hope, Choose to believe again. Verse 2: You know my struggles, Lord. I’ve got to see this through. Even if nothing changes I remain In awe of you. Yes I believe, my God; Please help my unbelief. Help me to see the many ways That you’re sustaining me. Mid-eight: However long I wait, I never wait alone. There’s nowhere I can hide from your love. Your comfort and your strength Surrounds me in this storm. You hear me, Lord.

Hope Is Here 04:15
Verse 1: To a people walking in darkness, hope is here; To the poor and broken-hearted, hope is here. A child of lowly birth, The Word became flesh and lived on earth. To a world looking for answers, hope is here. Chorus: Hope is here - Jesus, the Hope of the World. Do not fear, rejoice for His Kingdom has come. Welcome and praise the Servant King Our debt has been paid, God's love wins Our God is with us, hope is here Verse 2: To the fallen and rejected, hope is here; To the lonely and neglected, hope is here. Emmanuel is born - The King who will reign forevermore To a world looking for answers, hope is here. Mid 8: Hope is alive, God is with us, Hope is alive, Jesus saves So lift up your song in the night "Hope is alive." Jesus is King, sin is conquered Jesus is King, freedom reigns so, joining the angels, we sing "Jesus is King"

about

There’s a vast array of songs produced each year all over the world intended for use in times of praise and worship.

There are times, however, when most of those songs don’t reflect the times of struggle and difficulty that affect us all. This project is an attempt to provide music to help us express our worship in those times: desert songs that draw on the biblical tradition of lament and raw honesty of the psalms.

I will release a song every month in 2020.
