3am 04:27
Three o'clock in the morning and sleep won't come. Want to call you, but you're not awake. Can't remember how long I've been on this road. Now I wonder, was this a mistake? Maybe I should let it go. Will this seed ever grow? When you're chasing a dream, it's a lonely path. So many things stand in your way, But you know how I feel, you don't need to ask. You see colours where others see grey. Even if I'm miles from home I never stand alone. Dream it, I believe it, I can feel it like the end of a song Reaching for a place among the stars. You free me, you release me And you see me just the way that I am. Still I've found a place within your heart. Sometimes all that I see is a wall of glass. Feels like nobody else understands. There's an aching that rises when no-one cares, But it fades when I'm holding your hand. No-one could ever know How great a debt I owe.

Ninety miles to Memphis. Lord, I got to get back home. (x2) Got to find my Baby, I'm so tired of being alone. Ninety miles to Memphis. Maybe I could take a train. (x2) Oh my heart is aching Just to see her face again. I ain't got no money Maybe I could hitch a ride (x2) Won't someone help me Get me by my Baby's side. If I don't see my Baby Then I'll just break down and cry. (x2) Cause without my Baby I might as well lay down and die. Ninety miles to Memphis. Lord I'm going back to stay. (x2) Once I find my baby I ain't never goin' away.

The photo album tells the tale. They say the camera never lies. My morning suit, your pretty veil, That hapy glaze across our eyes. Here you are, so beautiful, Just like you were then, dressed in white And in my memory I'll replay The story of our wedding day. We all looked so much younger then And some of us have traveled on From good to bad and back again with loved ones far too soon, who've gone. "For better and for worse" we said, And "All I have I give to you" I'm here for good, I'm here to stay. I promised on our wedding day. Details growing hazy now And yet the joyful feeling lasts. Before our God we made our vow. We're following the light he casts. We'll walk together hand in hand Just like we're walking down the aisle And in each other's arms we'll sway Like we danced upon our wedding day.

Moonshine 02:59
Moon shine, Moon shine, Guide me on my way. These boots, I've worn For many a long day. Lonesome is my middle name, Lonesome is my way of life. Wandering from town to town, Wondering where I am bound. Looking for a ray of light. Moon shine. Moon shine, Moon shine, You're never far away. I know you're there, Though you wax and wane. Everywhere I lay my head, Everywhere I try to hide. Looking up I see you there Looking down, I know you care, Pouring out your light Moon shine. One day I'll stay, Never more to roam. I'll hear your voice Calling me home. No more tears or trouble there. No more fear of what's inside. Til that day I'll travel on, Til my wandering days are done, Following your light. Moon shine.

Fly 03:20
Gravity’s working against me, just one more thing that’s pulling me down. Apathy, habit, rebellion tug at my heartstrings, keep my head bowed. I need to break these chains and rise above. I want to fly, teach me to soar on eagle’s wings. I need to fly into your courts,my King. Liberty is such a strange thing. I need to learn what it means to be free. Free to keep making the right choice, freedom to lay my life at your feet. Breathe on me, Breath of God; fill me again. Then I can fly teach me to soar on eagle’s wings. I need to fly into your courts,my King. Walking in your ways, I’ll take a leap of faith Then I will fly I’m gonna fly I’m gonna fly, I’m gonna soar on eagle’s wings I’m gonna fly into your courts, my King

No wiser now, just older. My world is turning grey. When did my heart grow colder? Who took my hope away? It’s getting hard to fake it, pretending I’m OK. Inside I’m wretched, naked. Who took my faith away? Out of the depths I’m crying out. There’s no-one else can save me now. I’m hardly breathing, won’t be long ‘til I drown. I feel my heartbeat fading, the blood freeze in my veins. I’ve grown so used to failing, accustomed to my chains I heard the Siren voices, the promises they made. Imprisoned by my choices, I pushed your love away. Out of the depths I’m crying out. There’s no-one else can save me now. Lifting my head I see your hand reaching down. So I reach for your everlasting arms For I know you will never let me go Cling to your everlasting arms, Knowing that I’m coming home.

I saw the warning signs. Didn't make me change my mind. This happens all the time, Fool that I am. I rarely hesitate, Never learn from my mistakes. Keep pushing 'til it breaks. Fool that I am. In one ear, out the other. Don't wanna hear it, brother let me go my own sweet way. I never bite my tongue. Too busy having fun. This party's just begun. Fool that I am. In one ear, out the other. Don't wanna hear it, brother let me go my own sweet way. And everyone'll know I'm right someday. No thanks, don't want your help. Don't need nobody else. I'm happy in myself. Fool that I am.

How Long 02:43
How long, O Lord, shall the wicked stand? How long will they crush your people? When will this suffering ever end? How long 'til your Kingdom comes? But you, O Lord, are a mighty tower. Be their refuge and their hope. No throne can stand against your power O Sovereign Lord. How long, O Lord, shall injustice reign? How long 'til the slave finds freedom? When will the poor ever have a voice? How long 'til your Kingdom comes? But you, O Lord, are a mighty tower. Be their refuge and their hope. No throne can stand against your power O Sovereign Lord. We look to you, ever-faithful God We look to your word to guide us. You call us, Lord, as your hands and feet to stand 'til your Kingdom comes. For you, O Lord, are a mighty tower. Be their refuge and their hope. No throne can stand against your power O Sovereign Lord. O Sovereign Lord

Going Home 03:31
My day is nearly through. Seems what they say is true - How time flies when you’re having fun. I finally feel my age.,Think I should leave the stage. As one journey ends, another’s just begun. I’m going home now. My work is done, goodbye my friends. Time to go home now. Goodnight and God bless you till we meet again. Feels like I’ve reached the end. Wish I could start again, Find a stronger voice, and a better song. So I’ll just say farewell, there’s no more tales to tell. I need to find the place where I belong. I hope that you’ll remember me And I thank you all for your good company.

Sunrise Song 03:56
Each day when I wake, Whatever my state, The Lord is good. Morning, noon and night I've got joy inside. The Lord is good. Rejoice and sing. Come on everybody, praise the Lord. Worship the King, Celebrate His goodness and His love. There's no hiding place From His holy face, The Lord is good. Even when I sleep He's watching over me. The Lord is good. For His love endures, It's new every morning. His mercy rules, It's new every morning. When my day is through, These four words are true: The Lord is good. When my journey's done I can sing this song: The Lord is good.

Pushing On 04:25
On a road I've never driven, On a trail I've never blazed before. I've got a purpose and a mission. I've got new ground to claim as I walk. So I'm pushing on, moving on, pressing on. Yes I'm pushing on, moving on, pressing on. 'Cause the old has gone, the new has come. Yeah the old has gone, the new has come. I've got good times to remember, Like the pillar of fire, water from the rock. I've got heroes to look up to Who said "Yes we can" when they said it can't be done. I've learned my lesson from my mistakes. I'm crossing over, I'm going to the other side. It's a new day. Now a victory is promised, But I know there's battles to be fought. So I'll do just what He tells me; I'm following the Living Lord

Joyful Noise 02:31
15.
I saw your face At the party last night. My heart missed a beat, Then I saw you with your other guy. You asked how I was doing. You knew it was a lie When I told you I was ok, You saw tears in my eyes. It's so lonely here without you. It's so lonely without you by my side. I thought that I was doing well, Thought I'd paid for my mistakes, But I'd forgotten how the pain still burns When hearts begin to break. If I told you I was sorry, If I tried to make amends Would you take this old heart back again And be more than just good friends? It's so lonely here without you. It's so lonely without you by my side. Please give me one more chance (x3) To win your love again. How can I take all those cold words back? How can I wipe them from your mind? I know I was a fool to take your love for granted, So won't you listen to my call, Help me get it all back?
16.
Altar Call 02:34
I went down to the altar, Fell down on my knees (x2) And I cried "Lord have mercy, Saviour, rescue me" I went down (x3) I lay down all my sorrows, All my shame and sin (x2) And I sang "Alleluiah, Jesus is my king." I lay down (x3) I got up, up from the altar, Got my soul washed clean (x2) And I sang "Alleluiah, Jesus set me free" I got up (x3) Come on down, down to the altar, Come and get set free (x2) Come and cry "Lord have mercy" Come and cry "Lord have mercy" Come and cry "Lord have mercy Jesus set me free" Come on down (x3)
17.
Your love is new every morning, Like manna from heaven, It's new every morning. (x2) My Lord and my God, My strength and my rock, Your love is new every morning (x2) King of kings, Your love is new every morning (x2)
18.
Not My Home 01:55
Like a river keeps on flowing Something deep inside me wants to roam. x2 I don't know how long I'll be here, But I know this world is not my home. Like a stranger in a strange land Nothing here's familiar anymore. x2 I've got things I want to do here, But I know this world is not my home. There's a train bound for Glory, Leave your bags behind and get on board. x2 Let's enjoy it while we're riding, But don't forget this world is not our home.

Love And War 04:32
I don't know this town no more. Hard to find an open door. People full of fear, Scared to think what lies in store. No one looks you in the eye. Wonder what they're trying to hide? Where's the helping hand? Used to be we'd find the time. I don't know where I belong, I don't know where hope has gone. You can tell me that I'm wrong, I don't think so. Say that I don't know the score, Tell me you're above the law, All is fair in love and war. Well I say no, I say no. People getting left behind. Seems like being poor's a crime. All the streets are filled With "Brother can you spare a dime?" Now don't go getting old or weak. Never turn the other cheek. Winner takes it all, But never finds the peace they seek. I believe there's more to life than the Bottom Line. I believe "Every man for himself" is a wretched lie.
20.
How did I deserve this? How'd I ever find you? It's true what they say about grace. I've finally found my safe place Resting here in your arms, Gazing at the smile on your face. So now I've found you, let me say: Dance with me, The best is yet to be. Nobody's perfect, Everybody's broken, But I know you're perfect for me. Your love makes me Want to be a better man. I promise every day I'll try to be And I will love you all my days. We'll dance in the good times, We'll dance in the bad. We'll dance when we've plenty Or lost all we have. We'll dance in the moonlight, We'll dance in the rain. We'll dance up the mountain And dance through the pain.

about

This album marks the 10th Anniversary of the release of my first EP: Travellers' Tales.

The concept of the EPs was for them to be a way of presenting songs that I had written that were more performance-oriented than the congregational songs I usually produced, as I stretched my songwriting muscles, just writing whatever came to mind, without worrying about how they'd ever be heard. In the process I've developed an extra role as Singer/Songwriter, performing all over the UK, which has been as much a joy as it has a surprise.

Some (such as 90 MilesTo Memphis & Altar Call) are simply stories, others (like Our Wedding Day & 3am) are more personal. A few (Fly & Pushing On, for example) were inspired by sermons I've been challenged by.

The songs were all recorded in my fairly basic home studio and the original versions are quite primitive (some annoying so). I decided to collect them all together, listen to them with fresh ears and remix them with better equipment and a little more experience. I've also included 3 brand new songs written this year that would have been the start of my next Travellers' Tales EP.

I hope you enjoy them.

God bless,

David
